ROCK SOUND

Fast establishing a buzz for themselves with regular tight and polished performances across the south, Folk-rockers The Julian Tulk Band take their inspiration from the both the frivolities and hardships of life to produce an eclectic yet refreshingly smooth and life-affirming acoustic sound. Comprising elements of blues and rock and sealed with contemporary pop sensibilities makes theirs a sound that is accessible to those with a variety of music tastes. Opening their second album is ‘Strong Level Road’ , a country-vibe novella that immediately demonstrates the delicacy  of vocalist Julian Tulk’s earnest crooning as well as the bands’ brand of melancholic, alluring instrumentation.

Superb lead single ‘Deceleration’ (available on iTunes now) is positively brimmed full with resonating emotion, is driven by an anthemic and sugary-sweet chorus and is a great example of just what this band are capable of. Elsewhere on the album are slabs of energetic art-rock (the pounding blues inspired ‘Thank You’ and the twang-ing, lyrically regretful ‘Little Preston’ ) as well as more gentle tracks akin to the ballad-esque serenades that this band does so well (the soulful, breathy ‘Tall/Old’, and the gentle, haunting ‘River’s a Mess’).

Previously supporting acts such as alternative rockers  Supergrass and Patty Plinko, The Julian Tulk Band have already  shown that they can keep pace with those long established on the music scene and the imminent release of the formidable sequel to their debut album ‘Shine! My Brother, My Ghost, My Brother’ will elevate the band’s reputation even higher in the realm of social consciousness and inevitably; the music charts.
